Dungeon KeeperAre you an old-school Dungeon Keeper fan who's spent years waiting to see when the series would get a new-school reboot? Then prepare to be both delighted and, potentially, disappointed: Electronic Arts has announced that they've licensed the Dungeon Keeper IP to Chinese-based NetDragon Websoft Inc., who will develop a new Dungeon Keeper MMO. And it seems that, at least for now, it will only be released in the Greater China region, including Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau (via Kotaku).

The game will simply be titled Dungeon Keeper Online, and besides being described as a "3D massively multi-player online role playing game," no further details were given. As for whether it'll see release outside of Asia, the wording of the press release is murky. There's no specific mention of any planned release outside of the Greater China region. However, Liu Dejian, chairman and executive director of NetDragon, noted that "Capitalizing our strength to create a strong gaming experience, powerful operating platform and unmatched expertise within China's online game market, we are confident that Dungeon Keeper Online will not only become successful in the Greater China region but also achieve remarkable results overseas." So it seems we might see the game in the U.S. eventually, but there's no telling when that could be.

Jon Niermann, president of EA Asia Pacific, added, "The partnership marks a significant milestone for EA as it will enhance our intellectual property and extend our product reach throughout the Greater China region. It will also further enhance our intellectual property with differentiated, high-quality games, particularly in the field of MMORPGs."
