United States Patent Office Rejects Nintendo's Wii Remote Trademark Application

Think it's easy to get something trademarked? Nope, seems like the United States Patent and Trademark Office is a stickler for the little details. And it seems that Nintendo found out the hard way.

According to Gamepolitics, Nintendo's application for a trademark on the name "Wii Remote" was rejected by U.S. Patent Office on the grounds that the term "remote" is too common. Oops.

Nintendo can still get their trademark though. They just need to make sure that they disclaim any usage of the word "remote" unless it's used in the context of the term "Wii Remote." Actually, come to think of it, maybe they should have done that in the first place?
